New Balance just capped off another chapter of its Made in USA program with a bang, releasing the New Balance 992 with premium snakeskin overlays , which almost instantly disappeared from most retail shelves. Fortunately for fans of the brand, the Boston-based company isn't resting on its laurels and is already preparing another snakeskin-inspired interpretation – this time based on the more popular 1906R model.

Here we have the New Balance 1906R Thunder Brown - a nearly monochrome pair in a deep brown hue, with snakeskin-embossed leather overlays atop a tonal mesh base. The overall look remains understated and polished, contrasted by black accents on the tongue and outsole, which add depth and structure to the silhouette.

Considering the number of variations the 1906R has seen since its return in 2022, the use of snakeskin texture feels like a genuine innovation. As far as we know, this is the first time this model has received this treatment. And judging by how clean and convincing the Thunder Brown looks, it's likely that this isn't New Balance's last experiment with reptilian textures within the 1906 series.
